podcast anyone?

As the networks put out all their new shows for the season, I find myself in a bit of a yawn.  My love of television seems to be waining.  I'm growing tired of the same canned laughter I've listened to my whole life.  So, I found myself in search of something new.  Something useful, yet fun at the same time, and I think I've found it.  Podcasts, and not just any, but knitting podcasts.  I kept hearing people talk about them, and even though I'm a knitter, it didn't appeal to me in the beginning.  But I tried one.  Lemknitcrochet.  She's a riot!  This perky little thing from Texas, sitting there with her dog, trying to inspire everyone to knit, and finish their projects.  At first I looked at the amount of time the show is.  I thought how can someone talk for 1/2 an hour about knitting.  But she does.  Yes, she does mention her family, boyfriend, new movies, favorite nailpolish, but it really was the rest that had me captivated.  Okay, sucked in is more like it.  Alright I admit it, I subscribed her all her podcasts.  It took a while, but I managed to watch them all.  Fab.  So Fab.

The funny thing about watching one, they tell you about their favorites, and so your list grows, and grows.  Before you know it you have over 100 podcasts hogging up space on your computer.  But honestly, once your hooked, it's not really hogging is it?  So worth it.  The only problem, there is just not enough time in the day. The good thing is some are audio and some are video.  Just link the audio ones to your phone or IPod and listen while you walk the dog.

My list keeps growing.  From IMake in Guernsey, to Yarngasm in Brooklyn, I'm never at a loss for entertainment.  I've even increased my interest from knitting, to now spinning with the Spinner's Whirled.  I remember when I was a kid and there were only four channels to watch.  Now the options are virtually endless.  Thankfully I can cater them to what I'm interested in and podcasts seems to do just that.

  1. The joys of podcasts! I am so glad that you have discovered this wonderful medium and have got well and truly hooked (pardon the crochet pun). I am really pleased that you like my show, iMake, too.
