One thing close to my heart is all of Indi shops in the fiber fields.  Especially those who can go from raising sheep, sheering, processing and selling this beautiful wool.  One family does just that!

In an age of the internet and large over the top department stores, isn't it time to support some of the fine arts?

Here is what they have to say:  Our Yarn Farm is going to help bring back the skill of processing fleece to the youth and others of our area.  This hands on Yarn Farm will Help take those that come to the farm full circle in the processing of a fleece and making it into something personal. People will be able to not only spend time getting to know the sheep that will provide their fleece but they will also be able to learn to care for the sheep as well as learn every aspect of fleece processing. 

They will be able to take part in everything from feeding and watering the sheep to learning to trim hooves and clear navels.  We will be able to teach Shearing, skirting, and washing of raw fleece. As  well as the steps to making that same raw wool into usable yarn which will include carding, spinning and either knitting, crochet or weaving to create a personal item that they will return home with.  Each person will learn to create something from start to finish and they will know the animal that produced it by name.

People who take part will walk away not only with the knowledge of Fleece and wool preparation but they will leave with a working knowledge of farms and the satisfaction of knowing they can make something from raw fleece with their own hands.

Risks and challenges

While the outside walls and roof of the building are done. The main issue at this point is the leveling of the building and getting the floors in.

Later we will be adding water lines and electric and this could cause a few issues as the water lines will have to tie in to the house water lines and will have to be deep enough to keep it from freezing in the winter. The Electric will also have to tie into the house but we think those lines will be above ground. So when we are putting in the inside of the barn now we have to plan around the later renovations
