Recipe for Dishwashing Detergent

Laundry detergent is one of my favorite things to make.  It's easy and I always have a 5 gallon batch of it in the garage just waiting for me.  I love it because:
1.  I know what's in it
2.  No more heavy jugs to carry from the grocery store
3.  It saves me tons of money

Recently I found that two of the ingredients I use in my laundry detergent can also be used in making dishwasher detergent.  Another heavy jug crossed off my list!!!  This one is even easier to make.  I just made a batch.  I'll give you the recipe, and you can tell me how you like it.

1 cup borax
1 cup washing soda (not baking soda)
1/2 cup citric acid (amazon.com sells this the cheapest, but you can also purchase it at wine making shops)
1/2 cup kosher salt

Mix it all together and keep in a can under your sink.  Make sure you label it.
Use 1 tbsp.  for each load of dishes.

For a rinse agent, pour white vinegar into your "rinse aid" compartment.  Please leave me a comment to let me know how much you love this recipe.

It all comes out in the wash

I just finished making a batch of homemade laundry detergent.  I love something that you can make at home that can save money and prevent you from lugging heavy jugs from the store.  It is so easy to make that I'm surprised more people don't do it.  At one point I wondered just how well does this stuff work?  After all, usually my laundry looks clean before I put it in to wash.  Then one day I was working in the garden.  It was an all day adventure.  I came in the house covered in mud.  On top of it ,I had been wearing my fancy shorts.  (only went out there to check on the chickens, saw a project and just kept going).  Where was I?  Mud, yes, mud everywhere.  Not to worry, I threw in a load of laundry with my homemade soap, and the shorts came out spotless.  This stuff is so good, if it had commercials, I'd offer to be in for free.

You may wonder, how did the script for the new show turn out?  Well, yes it was as good in the bright light of day as it was last night.  I just made a couple of tweaks, and it's ready to go.  If anything happens, I'll let you know.
