While I have many projects currently on the needles, I've decided to stay monogamous with my knitting. Lately, I've been messing up a little too much, and I've determined that having so many projects is throwing off my focus. So, one by one, I'm pulling out a project and finishing it. I still want to cast on everything out there but I'm restraining myself for a while.
One project that has been frogged, several times is the Hitchhiker by Martina Behm http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hitchhiker. It's a cute shawlette with teeth down one side of it. It starts off narrow and then grows and grows until you get your desired amount of teeth. I won't tell you how many times I have started over. Teeth on one side. Teeth on the other side. Such a mess. This has to be one of the easiest projects. Afterall the hardest stitch is a kfb.
I started it last year. I asked for help. I was told your on the right tract, just keep going. I wasn't! Eventually, I threw it in the bin. Well, like I mentioned recently I was invited to a knitting group, and this was one of the projects I brought. I was hoping to ask someone for help. The night before my group I thought I would try it again. Guess what? It worked!!! Teeth all perfectly lined up on one side. I'm so pleased.
Sometimes you have a project like this. Not difficult...but something about it just won't work. I knew this was something I could do but why couldn't I do it? My belief is sometimes your just not ready. Even though you have the right skills, there may be a mental block about it. My advice? Don't give up, just wait, and try it again later. Right now I'm half way through my Hitchhiker. It's a beautiful Burgundy color, and I'm finally able to say that I'm proud of it.
