Revitalized!

Recently I was invited to a knitting group.  I was thinking...should I?  Life has been a little crazy lately and then to add getting ready, driving across town and sitting down with strangers for 2 hours just seems, well...sigh!  I was still making this decision at the time I was supposed to be there.  Honestly I'd rather be at home.  Feet up on the ottoman, wearing comfy clothes, my favorite podcast or show on tv, and puppy by my side.  That's how I like to knit.  Still, I gave in, packed my bags and went to the group.  Obviously I was late, but no one cared.  They were thrilled to have another member.

So I settled into my area, pulled out my drink, snack, and got to work on my knitting.  The time just flew by.  Clickety clack, clickety clack.  Before I knew it, it was time to go home.  Really?!?  All of a sudden I couldn't wait for next week.

There weren't many of us, a total of 7 and everyone was a lot older than myself, but none of that mattered.  We all had one thing in common, our knitting.  I may have been the youngest, but I found I have a lot to offer others.  Some of the ladies had only learned to knit in the past year.  They had a couple questions, I had a couple answers and some others even gave me answers.

I find a lot of my knitting questions in the past have been explained in YouTube videos.  Sometimes, however, they are difficult to see or they only answer half your question.  For instance, yes they show seeming where the stitches line up perfectly, but what about seeming up the side?  How did you do it?  Oh really...and why did you do it that way?  Videos are nice, but learning one on one just rounds the education off.

I'm now thinking that it doesn't matter how long you've been knitting, a group setting is lovely.  You get inspired, you learn new techniques, you meet people.  It's not a big investment, a couple hours of your time and a fresh new perspective.
